Norma Khayat - A Decade of Dedication
In this heartfelt conversation, Robert Daleo sits down with Norma Khayat, the N3 former Operations Manager
Honoring Norma Khayat’s Leadership at Neighbors Nourishing Neighbors
After ten years of faithful service, Neighbors Nourishing Neighbors (N3) is celebrating the incredible leadership and legacy of Norma Khayat, who recently stepped down from her role as Operations Manager.
In a recent conversation with Executive Director Robert Daleo, Norma reflected on a journey that mirrors the growth and resilience of N3 itself. What began as a small food pantry operating out of a 300-square-foot trailer has grown into a 6,000-square-foot facility serving as a lifeline for families across the community. Norma has been part of every chapter of that story — the hard days, the hopeful milestones, and the moments that proved just how powerful community can be.
Growing Through Crisis
During her tenure, Norma helped lead the organization through some of its most challenging seasons. She shared the realities of operating during the COVID-19 pandemic, when demand for food assistance surged and uncertainty was constant. Through it all, N3 adapted quickly, ensuring families continued receiving the support they needed.
She also recalled the devastating fire that destroyed the pantry’s previous location — a moment that could have stopped the mission in its tracks. Instead, it became a turning point. With overwhelming community support and determination, N3 rebuilt stronger than before.
The Power of Partnership
Norma emphasized that the pantry’s growth has never been the work of one person. She highlighted the importance of dedicated partners and supporters, including Green Mechanical, the Jones family, and the Children’s Hunger Fund, along with countless volunteers, donors, and neighbors who stepped in during times of need. These relationships have been the backbone of N3’s ability to expand its reach and deepen its impact.
A Legacy of Service
As Norma transitions into a new season of life, she looks forward to spending more time with her children and grandchildren and focusing on personal priorities. While she may be stepping away from her official role, her influence on the organization and the families it serves will be felt for years to come.
Her story is a reminder that service leaves a legacy far beyond a job title. It’s about the lives touched, the community strengthened, and the hope restored along the way.
The Work Continues
While this chapter closes, the mission of Neighbors Nourishing Neighbors continues. Families in our community still face food insecurity, and the need for compassionate support remains strong.
